Filipino pride takes center stage in DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming film Forgotten Island, featuring H.E.R., Liza Soberano, Lea Salonga, and Manny Jacinto in leading roles.
Set to hit theaters on September 25, 2026, it marks one of the first major DreamWorks projects inspired by Philippine mythology.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story follows lifelong friends Jo (voiced by H.E.R.) and Raissa (voiced by Soberano) who become stranded on the mystical island of Nakali. To return home, they must face the painful choice of letting go of their most treasured memories.
“I can’t believe I get to be part of something as special as Forgotten Island!!” Liza shared on Instagram.
“Thank you @dreamworks @joel.crawford.art @jmercado for making my dreams come true.”
The film is written and co-directed by Filipino-American Januel Mercado, who previously co-directed Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Forgotten Island will be his first solo directorial credit, alongside Joel Crawford.
The cast celebrates Filipino excellence across generations—Salonga, the iconic voice behind Disney’s Aladdin and Mulan; Jacinto, Manila-born star of The Good Place; and H.E.R., the Grammy and Oscar winner proud of her Filipino roots.
