GLENFIELD, Auckland – The first Epiphany Cafe in Auckland opened at Glenfield Mall in Auckland’s North Shore in October by giving away 100 FREE donuts! It has been doing a roaring trade ever since. Most days the donuts are sold-out by late afternoon.
At the helm of this operation are four Filipino couples who were looking for a business venture to invest in, in June this year. “A visit to Hamilton to taste Epiphany donuts sealed the deal,” says Ian Ramos, the marketing director of Epiphany Cafe in Glenfield Mall.
“In July we were geared up to look for the right location on the North Shore. We eventually found the perfect spot in Glenfield Mall and we never looked back,” says Ramos. “The soft opening was in mid-October and being in an area with a high concentration of Filipinos has been a plus factor as we have received a lot of support from the community. Even our friends from West Auckland and as far away as Papatoetoe have become regular patrons.”
FMN: What is the Epiphany donut difference?
RAMOS: For one thing, these are pillow-soft, artisan, gourmet donuts. They are comparatively larger than the average donut and they are made fresh daily and delivered to our cafe in Glenfield.
FMN: What are the popular flavours?
RAMOS: It seems that Kiwis love the crème brulee, white chocolate passionfruit, black forest, green tea and tiramisu flavours. The coffee crumble, cookies & cream and salted caramel flavours are also in the running.
A couple of our donuts are aimed specifically at the Filipino market – Purple Yam, which is filled with ube jam made from scratch and the other is Cheesy Buttercream, which is a delicious donut version of the well-loved ensaymanda, topped with a generous amount of grated cheese over smooth and luscious buttercream.
Aside from donuts, we also have muffins and cookies and a range of mouth-watering savouries like quiches, pies, sandwiches and pasta salads.
Our hot and cold drinks are famous as well! You can never go wrong with our barista-made coffee. And if you are wanting something cool for this summer, why not try our iced coffee, frappes, or fruit smoothies!
We want everyone to have the best experience – an ‘epiphany’, so to speak – when they visit us!
It is also worth noting the overall customer experience at Epiphany Cafe, which focuses on keeping diners comfortable and relaxed through its unique and cosy setting.
The first Epiphany Cafe in Auckland is located on the 3rd floor of Glenfield Mall, near the activity centre.
