The song ‘Born for You’ has been one of many Filipinos’ music favourites since 1999 when it was a big hit.

MANILA – Over the years David Pomeranz and his love songs have become part of the very fabric of Filipino life. His audiences range in age from 4 years old to 80 and are comprised of every aspect of the population – from schoolgirls to corporate executives to provincial farmers alike.

In fact there are very few Filipinos anywhere in the world who do not know and love David Pomeranz’ music. He is the only International artist to receive a star on the Manila Walk Of Fame and his album ‘Born For You – His Best And More’ has sold more copies than that of any other International Pop artist in the history of the country.

1983: David and his band performed in Manila for two nights at the 8,000 seat Folk Arts Theatre. Much to David’s surprise he was greeted at the airport by flashbulbs flashing and hundreds of screaming fans waving signs and shouting his name.

1999: Sixteen years later David returned to the Folk Arts Theatre (this time on a bill with two other popular American Acts, Stephen Bishop and Michael Johnson).

The February, 1999 concerts were very successful and David was approached by MCA Universal records to record an album consisting of re-recordings of his proven hits along with newly written songs. He returned to Manila in the summertime to record the album (with some Filipino musicians) and to help with promotion once the album was released.

Launched in December of 1999, ‘Born For You – His Best And More’ produced 6 major Radio hits including: ‘Got To Believe In Magic’, ‘King And Queen Of Hearts’, ‘If You Walked Away’ (a duet with Filipina Mega-star Sharon Cuneta), ‘The Old Songs’, ‘Undying Admiration’ and the title tune ‘Born For You’, which topped the charts at Number One for a record 14 straight weeks and earned David the FILSCAP award for ‘Most Performed International Song Of The Year’. ‘Born For You – His Best And More’ has since achieved platinum status 10 times, selling over 500,000 units in the Philippines alone and becoming the highest-selling International Pop album in the history of the country.

2000: In 2000 David sold out the 17,000 seat Araneta Coliseum in Manila and received a ‘Humanitarian Award’ from the Philippine National Red Cross for his fundraising efforts on behalf of their ‘Children Of The Streets’ Program. In that same year he produced his second Universal album, ‘The Eyes Of Christmas’ and starred in his own highly-rated Holiday Television Special on the GMA-7 Network, entitled ‘David Pomeranz – A Christmas Star’.

2001: In 2001 David released his third Universal album ‘On This Day’, which produced several more Radio hits (including the romantic standard, ‘On This Day’) and he continued to tour and sell out concerts wherever he went.

Because of his numerous Television appearances and filmed Concert Specials broadcast to Filipinos worldwide via their International Cable Channels ‘TFC’ and ‘GMA’, the approximately 10 million Filipinos around the world (and 3 million in America) who had not previously had a chance to see David perform now had the opportunity of seeing him in concert throughout the United States, Europe, U.K., Australia and The Middle East in such venues as The Universal Amphitheatre, San Francisco’s Cow Palace, The Cork Opera House, Toronto’s ‘Making Waves Festival’, Trump’s Taj Mahal (Atlantic City) and Bally’s Casino In Las Vegas.

2008: In 2008 David became the first International Music Star to be awarded the Key To The City of Manila by its Mayor, Alfredo S. Lim, for his contributions to Filipino people around the world.

2013: In February of 2013 David released a new album – ‘You’re The Inspiration’ (MediaNation) and just this past March became the first non-Filipino artist to earn a star on Manila’s Eastwood ‘Walk Of Fame’.

Suffice to say that David Pomeranz clearly deserves the title, ‘Adopted Son’ of the Philippines and he considers this to be among his greatest honours.
